Preparing a Shared Border or Super Theme Web for DWTs

Because the content area in a shared border web is clearly
defined, it is easy to attach a DWT to a shared border web. Here are a couple
of extra steps to do for shared border or Super Theme users.
Step 1: Enable the "Shared Border" menu in FrontPage 2003
In FrontPage 2003, the Shared Border menu maybe disabled. Enable the Shared
Borders menu by selecting the "Tools->Page Options..." menu. Then press the
"Authoring" tab and check the "Shared Borders" checkbox.

Step 2: Remove the shared borders from your web
Then select the "Format->Shared Borders..." menu items and
the Shared Border dialog will appear. Uncheck all the items, set the "Apply
to:" radio buttons to "All pages" and then press the
"OK" button. this will remove the shared border.
Warning: This step will remove all the shared borders
from your entire web. If you plan on applying the DWT to just a couple of
pages in your web, then remove the borders of those pages only by bringing
up one of these pages, set the "Apply to:" radio buttons to "Current page"
and then press the "OK" button.
Client-side or
Server-side Scripting
Note: Duplicate any pages with JavaScript or server side scripting (ASP,
PHP, etc.) on it as this code will not likely be preserved when the DWT is
applied to the page. You can use the duplicated page to re-add the script to
the page after the DWT is attached. Luckily, you will only have to do
this once as well.
Note: In most cases you will still be able to access
information that was stored in the shared borders by bringing up the files
in the _borders directory. If you can't see the _borders directory in the
"Folders List", then select the "Tools->Site Settings..." menu and the
select the "Advanced" tab and check the "Show hidden Files and Folders"
checkbox.
