The Easy Way to Back up your FrontPage Web

Backing up your FrontPage web is easy using the "File->Publish Web..." menu in FrontPage. Whether your web is on a server or a disk web, the following instructions will allow you to back it up with confidence knowing that you didn't forget any hidden directories. So lets get started.

Step 1: Bring up the Web in FrontPage
First bring the web site in FrontPage. This is done using the "File->Open Web..." menu.

Step 2: Publish the web to your backup location
Once the web site is up and running in FrontPage, select the File->Publish Web... menu. Depending if you have published the web before or not, either the

If the "Publish Web" dialog comes up, press the "Change..." button, the "Publish Destination" dialog will appear. .

Press the browse button and locate a place on your hard drive to publish you web to. Then press the "OK" button. This is your backup location.

The "Publish Web" dialog should appear again with the new destination setting. You may wish to include your subwebs in the backup by checking the "Include subwebs" checkbox You can now press the "Publish" button to backup your web onto your hard drive.

And That's It
You now have a copy of your web on your hard drive.

Restoring your Web
If your web becomes damaged and need to be restored, then all you have to do is bring up the web on your hard drive in FrontPage and publish it to the web location that you got it from.
