FrontPage supports the Office "Word Art"
and "AutoShapes" capability for the creation of business drawings and cool
banners. But often times Word Art and AutoShapes images do render well in
all browsers and increase page download time. To maximize compatibility
and speed we recommend that you convert the Word Art or AutoShapes drawing
to a GIF or JPEG image. This tip will show you how.
Step 1: Set up your Word Art of AutoShapes Drawing
Set up your Word Art of AutoShapes drawing on a test page that is not part
of Web navigation. Once you have completed the drawing, preview it in the
browser.
Step 2: Capture the Image with a Screen Capture
program
Use a screen capture program to capture the Word Art or AutoShapes
drawing. We recommend using the
FrontLook Screen Capture product. The FrontLook Screen Capture product
allows you to select any rectangular area so
the screen for capture using a pull-out box (Windows Key + Print Screen).
Note: if your drawing is colorful, we recommend that
you set your display properties to 24 bit before you do the screen capture
to maximize the fidelity of the captured image.
Step 3: Put the captured image on your page in place
of the Word Art or Shaped Drawing
Once the image is captured, you can bring up your real page. For more on
how to insert the image on a page, see our Adding a
Screen Capture to a Web Page in Microsoft FrontPage How-to Tip.
And That's it!
