FrontPage How To

Volume 1 - Issue 4 - February 2003

Adding a Screen Capture to a Web Page in Microsoft FrontPage
By David Pfeiffer of FrontLook.com

Microsoft FrontPage has excellent support for adding images and other items from the clip board. In this FrontPage How-to article we will explore the process of capturing and then adding screen shots to a web page.

Capturing a Screen Shot
Microsoft Windows supports two basic forms of screen captures as outlined below (these key strokes may vary depending on your screen capture product). These images will be copied to the clipboard. Arbitrary area and menu Screen shots will require an additional screen capture product (see below).

Adding a Screen Shot to your Web Page in Microsoft FrontPage

1) First arrange the screen or bring up the dialog  for your screen capture. Then capture the screen using one of the key combinations described above.

2) Bring up FrontPage and the page you would like to place the image on. Place the cursor on the page where you like the image to appear and Press "control-v" to paste the image on the page. You can then add other text and pictures.

3) When you save the page, the "Save Embedded Files" dialog will appear.

4) The name of the file will be set automatically for you. You can set the name of the file to save by pressing the "Rename" button.

5) Select the folder the image should be saved into by selecting the “Change Folder…” button. Usually image files are placed in the "images" folder.

6) Select the "Picture Options…" button to set the image type (See Picture Options dialog).

This is a great dialog to help decide which format to save your file, read it over carefully.

7) Press the "OK" button to save the image to the web.
