FrontLook Java Effects - Effects Panel (Image Applet Only)

The Effects Panel allows you set the background image effect and it parameters. The background image effect are plug-ins and therefore new effects can be added later. Some of the effects do not use and therefore will not respond to some of the slider controls.

Note: On older browser that do not support Java 1.1 or greater, the background image may remain static for some effects due to a lack of pixel processing support, but the text effects will continue. This should only occur with first generation browsers.

Image Effects Panel

Effects popup - Select from the list of background image effects.

Filter Delay - The delay time in milli-seconds between image effects updates. Typical values range from 20-100.

Filter Speed - Each effect cycle is broken into 100 possible steps. This control sets the number of steps skipped between updates. Typical numbers range from 5-30. Some effects do not use this control.

Balancing the Delay and Speed Controls - The balance between the Filter Delay and Filter Speed will determine the speed and smoothness of the image effect. On time intensive effects, the Filter delay should be set to a low number like 5-10 milli-seconds. The filter speed should then be set to make the effect fast but not choppy looking.

Intensity - This control sets the intensity of the effect. Many effects do not use this control. Typical numbers range from 20-100
