FrontLook Java Effects - Strings Panel (Text Applet Only)

The Text Applet Strings Panel allows you to set the strings and their properties for display.
 


Text Effects String Panel

The controls in this panel are labeled in logical groups. The description below is outlined in a left to right and top to bottom ordering of the controls as they appear on this panel. You can also use the tool tip help to properly identify one of the panel controls.

String List - This is the String List displayed in top-to-bottom order.

Up Arrow button - Move the currently selected string up in the String List.

Down Arrow button - Move the currently selected string down in the String List.

New button - Add a new string to the String List.

Remove button - Remove the currently selected string from the String List. You cannot remove the last string.

String Parameters Section - These are the attributes of the currently selected string as outlined below:

String field - Put the string you want displayed here.

Font popup menu - Font name of the string.

Font Size field - Size of the string font.

Font Style popup menu - Style of string font.

Colors 1 popup menu - Base Color of the string font. If more that one color is set, the the string colors will be animated.

Colors 2 popup menu - Second character color of the string font. If more that one color is set, the the string colors will be animated.

Colors 3 popup menu - Third character color of the string font. If more that one color is set, the the string colors will be animated.

Colors 4 popup menu - Fourth character color of the string font. If more that one color is set, the the string colors will be animated.

Effect popup menu - Sets the shadow or glow effect of the string font. In the case of Engrave or Emboss effect, the color of the text is set by the first color of the string text. Color animation is not supported. The effect color is not used.

Color Delay field - Sets the time in milli-seconds between color animations changes. Only valid if more than one color is selected. Typical values range from 20-300.

Effect Color popup menu - Color of the shadow or glow effect.

Effect Horizontal Offset popup menu - Horizontal offset in pixels of the shadow or glow effect.

Effect Vertical Offset popup menu - Vertical offset in pixels of the shadow effect.

Alignment Horizontal popup menu - Horizontal alignment; left, center, right.

Alignment Horizontal Offset field - Additional horizontal offset in pixels from alignment setting in pixels. Negative values will move the string to the left of the alignment setting, positive values to the right of the alignment setting.

Alignment Vertical popup menu - Vertical alignment, top, center, bottom.

Alignment Vertical Offset field - Additional vertical offset from alignment setting in pixels. Negative values will move the string above the alignment setting, positive values below from the alignment setting.

Entry Motion Effect popup menu - String's entry motion effect. To maximize performance, the image applet text motion effects are a subset of the Text Applet motion effects. In the case of Dissolve, Sparkle and Fade. the color of the text string is set by the first color of the string text. Color animation is not supported.

Entry Animation Time field - Time in milli-seconds for the entry motion effect. Typical values range from 80-1000.

Entry Sound button - String's entry sound. If motion effect is a one-character-at-a-time, then choose shorter sound effects.

Exit Motion Effect popup menu - String's exit motion effect.

Exit Animation Time field - Time in milli-seconds for the exit motion effect. Typical values range from 80-1000.

Exit Sound button - String's exit sound. If motion effect is a one-character-at-a-time, then choose shorter sound effects.

Hold Time field - The amount of time in milli-seconds the string is presented in a static position for reading. Typical values range from 1000-5000 (1-5seconds).

Run Delay field - This sets the time in milli-seconds between the end of one string and beginning of the next string run. Typical values range from 0-1000.
