Using a Frame around FrontLook
Effects
The Series 2
Image Effects applet is
ideal for showcasing a your company logo or any image
you would like your viewers to notice. Often times it is desirable to put
a frame around the applets image to set it off from other images on the
page, but not have the frame image affected by the applet. This month's
tip will examine how to use FrontPage Picture tools and
table background images to implement simple frames with
out slicing up the frame image.

Fixing Sliced
Image Alignment
Problems in Tables
When
placing sliced images in a table, it can be difficult to align them
properly in every browser. Here are a couple of tricks to help getting
images to align.
 |
Remove any
spaces or breaks in the table cells that might cause misalignment.
|
|
You may
need to place transparent GIF images in the top and bottom cells to keep
the spacing constant in all browsers. I have a 4x4 transparent gif that I
stretch to force table heights or widths to make things align.
|
|
You may
have to set the alignment of the cell to something other than the default.
|
|
If you
manually resize the table or cells, you may have to go in and fix the
height and width parameters of the table and cell properties dialogs.

Java
and Windows XP
After
installing Windows XP, you may have noticed that your
Java applets stopped working! You then can right click
on the missing applet and select "Load the Java Plug-in",
but then you might get an error message saying the
"plug-in could not be found". To get the needed Java
Virtual Machine you will need to go to the Sun
Microsystems web site and download the JVM for Windows at
the following link:
http://java.sun.com/getjava/download.html
We
recommend that you place the following HTML in the
"Non-Java Browser String/HTML" text box on the Applet
panel of your Series 2 and 3 applets.
