Getting Things to Line Up when using Shared Borders
Problem:
When using shared borders in FrontPage, it can often be difficult to get items on the page
to be in alignment from top to bottom. Often the top shared border will align to the left
of the items in the content area.
Solution:
To alleviate this problem, we put tables in the share borders and the content area. All
these tables are left aligned, but content in the table can be centered. In the top shared
border table, we put a table that has two columns. The first column is forced to be the
width of the left shared border and the other column is set to a width a little bigger
than a small browser screen. This is where we put the banner and separator. We do the same
on the bottom shared border. In the content area, we put a left-justified table with the
content. The width of the table is set to line up with the top and bottom shared borders.
See the source to one of our web pages for an example.
