| FrontLook Media Maker provides an
easy-to-use interface to create CD-Based HTML Presentations. In the example
below, you will walk through the process of creating a project folder,
converting your web to an HTML presentation, building the media files
and making a CD. Step 1: Make a Project Folder
We recommend you make a project folder for your media project and note its
location on your hard drive.
Step 2: Copy your web to the Project Folder
In this project folder you should place a copy of your existing web as there
will be modifications to the web to make it ready for the CD. The process of
copying of your current web to the project folder will depend on what type
of web it is; a disk web or served web.
 | A disk web is located on your hard drive and
when you bring up the "Tools->Web Settings..." dialog, the File location
will begin with "c:\...". |
 | A served web is located on a server and its File
location in the Web Settings dialog will start with "http://...". |
Copying a disk web to the Project
folder
To copy the web from its location on your hard drive is easy using the
Windows Explorer. First you will need to locate your web on your hard drive.
This is done using the Tools->Web Settings... menu. Take note of the "File
Location" of the web. Bring up the parent directory in Windows Explorer.
Right-click on your web folder and select the Copy menu item. Then bring up
your project folder in Windows explorer and right click inside the folder
and select the Paste item from the popup menu. The web folder will then be
copied to the project folder.

Project Folder Publishing a
served or disk web to the Project folder
If your web is a served web, you will need to publish it to your project
folder. Make an additional folder for your web in your project folder. To
publish your disk or served web to the Project folder, bring up the web,
then select the File->Publish Web... menu. This will bring up the Publish
Destination dialog. Enter the project folders location and add the web
folders name to the files specification.

Publishing your web to the project folder
In this example above, the Project folder is
"FLMMTour Project" and the web folder is "MediaMakerTour".
Step 3: Preparing your web for CD
Since there will be no support for FrontPage Extensions running from the
disk web, any operations that require FrontPage extensions will need to be
removed or redirected. You might remove the pages or redirect the user to a
web site where the page would gather the desired information. See the Tip on
"Jumping to a web page".
The following are the functions in FrontPage that require FrontPage
extensions to be present on the server and will not be available when
creating an HTML presentation:
 | Any Form Processing including email and writing of form
data to text or HTML files |
 | Any ASP, JSP or PHP pages. |
 | Hit Counters, search pages and other special components
that require server support. |
Client side web components such as FrontLook Java Effects,
Page Effects, component Effects and Super Themes will operate on these disk
webs. Once you web is configured, we recommend that
you use the Tools->Recalculate Hyperlinks... menu to make sure every page is
up to date.
Step 4: Setting up the CD Presentation with FrontLook
Media Maker
