Applying a STS Super Theme to a Share Point™ Services Web Site from Microsoft®

What is a SharePoint Team Services (STS) Web Site?
SharePoint™ Team Services from Microsoft is a team Web site solution that is designed to significantly improve the way a team manages information and activities. You can easily create a Web site that serves as the central repository of all project information—documents, contacts, tasks, discussions, and much more. A Web site created with SharePoint Team Services (STS) helps everyone contribute and collaborate—and is  easy to set up and customize. Click here for more info.
 

What are STS Super Themes and Web Templates?
STS Super Themes are professionally designed web templates that are easily applied like regular FrontPage themes on existing STS webs. These Super Themes contains special style sheets used on STS webs. The Super Themes Browser takes care of all the setup of the shared borders, navigation bars, style sheets and copies the additional graphics to the web site. Change your look of your STS web site with the press of a button. STS Super Themes are also compatible FrontPage Web Templates for creating new STS web sites.

Applying a STS Super Theme
Applying a Super Theme to a existing STS web is made easy with the use of the Super Theme Browser. Here are the steps to apply a STS Super Theme to a STS web site:

Bring up your STS web site that you wish to apply a Super Theme to in FrontPage 2002. Go to the 'Format' menu and select the 'Super Themes...' menu item. The Super Themes user interface will appear.

Browse through the list of STS themes and select one to see a preview of the new wrap-around theme.

Press the "Customize" button on the left panel to change the copyright, author and other information. You can add your company logo to your web site by selecting the "Custom..." item for the "Company Logo" menu and locating your logo. The logo should be a transparent gif if it has a non-rectangular shape.

Check the "Show Finish Readme" check box to see the optional finishing instructions for your STS web.

Press the "OK" button and the “Continue” button on the Warning Dialog box to apply the Super Theme to your web. Your current shared borders will be backed up in the _borders folder. The Super Themes dialog will disappear and the new Super Theme will be applied to your web.

Now you can add other items to the shared border area to finish your new Super Theme web. Most Super Themes use a FrontLook Series 3 applet. You can edit this applet if you have this product installed by double-click on the applet area.

Optional Steps
The Finish readme file has several optional steps that you can perform if you would like to change the shared borders on a particular page or if you would like to use the provided redesigned default page. The Super Themes Browser places the Finish.doc file in the root of the web for easy access. Please see it for more information.
